Mommy, you need your M&Ms!

Uploaded: May 11, 2015
I almost always bring our kids along when I go grocery shopping. Over the years our son has learned our family's weekly staples and special treats. It's been quite helpful when he remembers important items on our grocery list - even if he also adds a couple extra ones that look tasty.

When I was pregnant with his sister, I sometimes craved M&Ms. I started occasionally buying myself a packet when we were waiting in line to check out. I would tell my son that it was a special mommy treat.

Now, about a year later, it is a challenge to leave the store without M&Ms! If I don't put them in our shopping cart my son will loudly announce, "Mommy, you need your M&Ms!" He is persistent - even reaching out of his stroller to grab the M&Ms and placing them into my hands.

I was surprised by his insistence to buy M&Ms. He doesn't eat them. Maybe he just knows that mommy is much happier after she eats some chocolate.

It's always special when you are pampered by your kids on Mother's Day. But sometimes it is the little extra treats that our kids give us throughout the year that are especially meaningful.

Thanks for my chocolate treat!
