TANTRUM TRAINING . . . The Children's Health Council is offering a three-week class on tantrum training, beginning Oct. 1. CHC offers many classes to help parents develop listening tools and build children's emotional health. Other courses coming this fall address topics such as AD/HD, Autism, depression in children and adolescents and behavioral and learning problems in preschool-aged children. BREAST CANCER CONFERENCE . . . Palo Alto's Community Breast Health Project will host it's third annual "Sharing Knowledge -- Creating Hope,"conference on the latest advances in breast cancer detection, treatment and support. Topics include monoclonal antibody treatments, breast reconstruction, side-effect management, new systemic treatments, sexuality and breast cancer, lesbian issues and support for young women. The conference takes place Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Decathlon Club, 3250 Central Expressway, Santa Clara. Lunch and a resource fair are included. RELIEVING THE STRESS OF INFERTILITY . . . Research has shown that the psychological stress of infertility can significantly contribute to the condition. A 10-week program for women and their partners who are experiencing infertility has just begun through Women's Health @Stanford's fertility program. Group sharing and support, skills-building, couples' communication, maintaining resilience, and healing therapies, such as massage, meditation, medical qi gong and expressive arts included in the program. The program takes place on Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m., culminating in an all-day retreat on Sat., Nov. 18. Cost is $560 for Stanford IVF patients; $860 for non-Stanford patients. MANAGING DIABETES . . . Stanford Patient Education Research Center will hold a diabetes self-management workshop and study for adults with Type 2 diabetes on Sat., Sept. 16. Topics include healthy eating, exercise, appropriate use of medication and working effectively with health care providers. AS EASY AS ABC? . . . A two-day intensive certification workshop, "Pilates Principles: Alignment, Breathing, Control and Stability," will take place on Sat., Sept. 16 and Sun.
