HOLIDAY AFFAIRE 2012 ... The Garden Club of Palo Alto will hold its biennial Holiday Affaire from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at First Presbyterian Church, 1140 Cowper St., Palo Alto. Featured are fresh flower arrangements, homemade marmalades and jams, birdhouses, Kool Jools, paper whites, wreaths and birch products, all created by members of the garden club. Admission is free. HOLIDAY BAZAAR ... Deborah's Palm's Holiday Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 555 Lytton Ave., Palo Alto. Featured will be handmade crafts, jewelry, ornaments, candy and art, as well as refreshments and music. There will also be a wreath-making station and a used book sale. SEW A PILLOWCASE? ... Diane "DeAnne" Appleton will offer a workshop for both novice and experienced sewers who'd like to learn how to make "The Exquisite Pillowcase" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Palo Alto Art Center, Studio B, 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto. Techniques will include press-as-you-sew, making square corners, trimming bulk and finishing seams. Bring your own sewing machine. Cost is $79 for residents, $91 for nonresidents. FREE FABRIC ... The next FabMo free fabric distribution event is Thursday, Dec. 6, 4 to x p.m.; Friday, Dec. 7, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Appointments are required, to help manage the crowds (Email gather.fabrix@me.com with preferred date and time), but some drop-in hours are included. The distribution, with a requested donation, takes place at 2423 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View. Volunteer greeters and sorters are also needed. Information: www.fabmo.org

HOLIDAY GREENS ... Gamble Garden will offer holiday greens and arrangements for sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. Greens include cedar, cypress, fir, holly, pine, juniper, spruce, magnolia and more, as well as plants and bulbs grown at Gamble Garden. In addition, Gamble expert flower arrangers will custom-fill centerpieces in a container provided (call the office to arrange drop-off before the event) or one purchased the day of the sale.
