Deaths
Marguerite Saegesser
Marguerite Saegesser, 87, a longtime resident of Palo Alto, died April 1, 2011.
She was born May 27, 1923, in Bern, Switzerland. She lived and worked as an artist in Palo Alto from 1976 to 2004. She was represented by Smith Anderson Gallery and exhibited her work locally and nationally in such venues as the Cantor Art Center at Stanford University, the deSaisset Museum at Santa Clara University and the Basel Art Fair in Switzerland.
In addition to painting and sculpture, she was also a musician, dancer and poet, according to her friend, Smith Anderson Gallery's Paula Kirkeby.
Friends, family members and fellow artists loved to gather at her home for lively discussions, and she will be missed as an artist and friend, loved ones said.
