DAFFODIL DAYDREAMS ... Filoli kicks off its 35th year with three days of special programs, talks and demonstrations on Friday, Feb. 25, through Sunday, Feb. 27. Talks include: "Photographing the Spring Bloom: Where Do I Start?" by Susan Rosner, Feb. 25, 11 a.m.; "What's in Your Daffodil Future?" by Bob Spotts, Saturday, Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m., and "Making Natural Dyes" by Rebecca Burgess, noon; and a Garden Walk with Melissa Reading, president of the Northern California Daffodil Society, Sunday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. Admission is free to members and children 4 and younger; $15 for adult nonmembers, $12 seniors, $5 children 5-17. SUCCESS WITH CITRUS ... Don Dillon from Four Winds Growers, a wholesale citrus nursery founded by his grandfather, will talk about "Success With Citrus" on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Gamble Garden, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. Dillon will cover everything from pests and diseases to planting and maintaining citrus in containers. Recipes using such citrus as Meyer lemon, Washington navel, Kaffir lime and Buddha's hand will be included. Cost is $40 for nonmembers, $30 for members. INTRO TO GROW BIO ... Two classes will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 26, at Common Ground Education Center, 559 College Ave., Palo Alto. "Introduction to Grow Biointensive" — including double-digging, composting, companion planting, carbon farming and more — will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. "Companion Planting," or maximizing use of garden space, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost for each class is $31. CAMELLIAS AT GAMBLE ... Barbara Tuffli, former president of the American Camellia Society and nationally known lecturer, will talk about "The Camellias at Gamble Garden" on Thursday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. What began as a private passion of Elizabeth Gamble is now part of the West Coast Camellia Trail. Tuffli's talk will cover the history of the collection, as well as the many specimens added through hybridization. Cost is $40 for nonmembers, $30 for members. ORCHIDS: NATURAL WONDERS ... The 59th annual Pacific Orchid Exposition, themed "Natural Wonders," will be offered by the San Francisco Orchid Society March 3 to March 6 at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco. More than 150,000 orchids will be included. Hours are March 3 (Gala Benefit Preview), 6:30-10 p.m.; March 4, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; March 5, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; March 6, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost is $40 for the Gala Benefit, $14 general admission, $10 for seniors (65+); children 12 and under free.
