COMING UP ROSES ... UC Master Gardeners will talk about how to prune and care for roses while they are dormant on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. The free talk takes place at the Palo Alto Demonstration Garden, 851 Center Drive, Palo Alto. A HOLIDAY AFFAIRE ... The Garden Club of Palo Alto will hold its annual Holiday Affaire on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Gamble Garden, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. In honor of Gamble Garden's 25th anniversary, the club will donate all the proceeds from the winter marketplace — which includes wreaths, table decorations, gourmet foods, bird feeders, fresh greens for home decorating, custom-decorated table-top trees and gifts for teachers and hostesses — to Gamble Garden. EDIBLE LANDSCAPING ... Rosalind Creasy, author of "Edible Landscaping: Now You Can Have Your Gorgeous Garden and Eat It Too!" and 16 other books on gardening and cooking, will answer gardening questions and sign books on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Common Ground Education Center, 559 College Ave., Palo Alto. The Common Ground fundraiser includes a guided tour of Creasy's favorite seed varieties, tools and garden supplies. Cost is $25. HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS ... Gamble Garden is offering fresh, custom centerpieces, either in one's own or a purchased container, created by its expert flower arrangers. Cost is $25 for small, $35 for medium or $45 for a large arrangement. Drop off containers the week of Dec. 6 in the Main House (1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto); others can be purchased on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon.
