CITY COUNCIL ... The council plans to hear an update on the Fire Resources, Services and Utilization Study, discuss plans for the city's takeover of Palo Alto Airport, consider adoption of a new Electric Utility Rate Schedule, discuss Main Library improvements and approve correspondence from the city relating to high-speed rail. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave.

BOARD OF EDUCATION ... The board will consider, and possibly vote on, a new staff proposal for academic calendars for 2011-12 and 2012-13. The board also will discuss results of negotiations with its three unions, hear an update on district finances and elect officers for the coming year. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the board room of school district headquarters (25 Churchill Ave.).

FINANCE COMMITTEE ... The committee plans to discuss changes to the city's Gas Utility Rate Schedule and discuss the city's long-term plans for gas and electricity acquisition. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the Council Conference Room at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.).
