The City of Palo Alto is sponsoring a workshop on "Irrigation Design and Maintenance" on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to noon at Cubberley Community Center, Room H-6, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. DO TRY THIS AT HOME ... Interior designer and Palo Alto Weekly columnist Kit Davey will teach a class on "Interior Design for Beginners" on Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at DeAnza College, Room G-5, 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd., Cupertino. In addition to developing a home-decorating recipe for expressing personal style, participants will learn about color schemes, furniture arrangement, selecting an area rug, lighting techniques, selecting wall color and wallpaper. NEED TO SHRED? ... Palo Alto residents can bring up to five bankers' boxes filled with confidential documents to shred at the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer (SMaRT) Station, 301 Carl Road, Sunnyvale, on Saturday, March 27, from 8 to 11 a.m. Documents must be removed from binders, but staples, paper clips, spiral notebooks and rubber bands are OK. Proof of residency is required.
