COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Kerri Walsh wins top honor again

Stanford senior Kerri Walsh, who had 16 kills to lead the No. 2-ranked Cardinal past host Santa Clara on Tuesday night, 15-7, 15-12, 15-5, has been named Pacific-10 Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Cardinal freshman Logan Tom was named Freshman of the Year, junior Jennifer Detmer was named to the first team with Walsh and Tom, while Lindsey Yamasaki joined Tom on the All-Freshman Team.

Walsh joins former UCLA standout Daiva Tomkus (1988, '89) as the only two-time recipient of the award. Walsh was a major force in leading Stanford to its sixth consecutive Pac-10 title this season.

During her four seasons at Stanford, the Cardinal have posted a record of 69-3 in Pac-10 play. Walsh becomes the seventh Stanford player to be named conference player of the year.
