Menlo's Trailer nominated for all-star game

Menlo School senior basketball standout Zach Trailer of Palo Alto has been nominated to the McDonald's All-American High School Basketball Team.

The 6-foot-1 Trailer, averaging nearly 17 points a game, is one of only 11 Bay Area basketball standouts who were selected to the elite list of 1,500 players from among thousands of nominees from thoughout the United States.

A national panel of prep basketball experts made the preliminary choices. The final 20 players will be named Feb. 23 during a selection show to be telecast nationally by ESPN2 at 4:30 p.m. (pst).

The McDonald's All-American High School All-Star Game will take place March 25 in Norfolk, Va. ESPN will telecast the game at 5 p.m.

Also nominated from the area is St. Francis scoring start Senque Carey, a member of the "Best of the West" first-team.
