Community notebookENGINEER WANTED . . . The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is looking for a registered professional engineer to fill a three-year term on the District's Hearing Board. The Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body that rules on variance requests and hears appeals on permit decisions. The board meets each week and members are paid $300 per day, with a cap of $7,200 per year. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. Call 749-4961 for an application form and information packet. ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP . . . The Rotary Club of Palo Alto is accepting applications for its 1999-2000 Ambassadorial Scholarship. The scholarship is offered to applicants who have completed at least two years of university course work and post-graduates who have a strong desire to study abroad.
