COMMUNITY: Clothing closet needs new homeProgram that provides free clothing is losing its space in Menlo ParkThe Urban Ministry's Clothing Closet has lost half its space in its current home, and will lose the rest in the near future. Urban Ministry director Daryl Ogden said he has begun searching for new space for the closet, which provides free clothes to the homeless and needy. "There are a lot of very low-income people who don't have money to buy coats or blankets. These things are especially needed in weather like this," Ogden said. "The clothing closet is something this community needs." The Clothing Closet is housed in a garage at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Menlo Park, at the moment. The church, however, needs the space back, Ogden said. "I am hoping someone will call to offer us some space," Ogden said. "We are hoping for a space with enough room for a changing room, so people can try items on." The Closet is open every Wednesday from 1-4 p.m., and is run with almost no overhead, Ogden said. The clothes are all donated free by the community and given out by volunteers. This is not the first time the three-year-old program has lost its home. It has been housed at Holy Trinity for the past seven months. Ogden said anyone with a possible home for the Clothing Closet can contact him at 324-5358 --Charlie Breitrose
