A Stanford University faculty member denied tenure last spring has filed a grievance against the university. A bill co-written by Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, to streamline the approval process for medical devices was approved by the House of Representatives Oct. 7. The bill, HR1710, the Medical Device Regulatory Modernization Act, would provide additional resources to the Food and Drug Administration so it can more quickly review new medical devices. The bill, co-authored by Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, now goes to a conference committee of House and Senate members, since the Senate passed a different version of the legislation.
