FIRE SAFETY SHOW . . . Fire rescue and police dog demonstrations will be part of the 7th Annual Police and Fire Safety Show at Stanford Shopping Center. Commemorating National Fire Prevention Week, the show also features display booths, information and the winning fire safety posters. The show will last from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., with demonstrations at 12:30 p.m. in the south parking lot, on Sunday, Oct. 19.

WOMEN AND INVESTING . . . Gail Buckner will hold a seminar on Women and Investing on Monday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Stanford University Campus Bookstore located at White Plaza. Buckner, a former CNBC anchor and an expert on women's financial challenges, will provide a down-to-earth explanation of the financial markets and will show the strategies to create a solid financial plan. GHOULISHLY GREAT . . . The Stanford Shopping Center will present its annual "Halloween Haunt" Oct. 31, a night full of magic wands and creepy surprises beginning at 5 p.m. for children ages 2 to 10. Then at 7 p.m., all of the 140 stores will open their doors to costumed children for a night of safe trick-or-treating. For more information, call the "Hauntline" at 329-2121.
