Steven John Clark left home on foot Monday in the pouring rain without a jacket, without a wallet and without his watch. The last time his wife Kaitlin McCarty saw him was at 7:30 a.m. Monday, when she left for work. She is now seeking the public's help in looking for him. When McCarty returned to their San Carlos Court home in Midtown at 9 p.m., the mail was still in the box, she said. Clark had not shown up for a doctor's appointment at 2 p.m. that day. On Tuesday morning, McCarty reported to Palo Alto police that her husband was missing. Clark, 51, walked with a limp due to a polio as a child. He was often bedridden due to back pain, McCarty said, and he was taking anti-depressants. He used to work as a disc jockey for private parties in Santa Cruz, but he had not worked for about two years, McCarty said. Both the police and McCarty are concerned that Clark may be suicidal. Clark is described as six-foot, one-inch tall and weighing about 210 pounds. He has thinning blond hair and a gray beard. He has blue eyes and wears glasses. According to his wife, he loved the Baylands and the foothills, and might be headed toward Santa Cruz, where the couple used to live. "I don't think they have the faintest idea where to look, and neither do I," said McCarty. --Vicky Anning
