LOCAL CANDIDATE FORUMS . . . Cable Channel 6 (Mid-Peninsula Access Corp.) will air three local candidate forums and one initiative discussion on Oct. 29 to help voters with their decisions before election day. Forums include the Menlo Park City Council at 4 p.m., the Ravenswood School Board at 5 p.m., the "three strikes" initiative at 6 p.m. and the 21st Assembly District and 14th Congressional District at 7 p.m. For more information, call 494-8686.
AUTHORS RAISE FUNDS . . . Authors of fiction, poetry, mystery and children's literature will read passages from their books and sign books purchased that day at the third annual C.A.R. Authors Luncheon on Oct. 29 at Hyatt Rickeys in Palo Alto. Authors Richard North Patterson, Sandra Scofield, Louis B. Jones, Jane Hirshfield and Patricia Polacco will be featured.
