ROSE CARE . . . Carole Kraft will teach a class on "Rose Pruning and Care" tomorrow, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Common Ground, 599 College Ave., Palo Alto. The class will also cover soil and amendments, and mulches, as well as demonstration at a nearby garden. Cost is $23. Also at Common Ground, Jean Couch will teach a class on "Better Body Mechanics in Your Garden" Saturday, Jan. 28, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Couch, owner of the Balance Center and author of "The Runner's Yoga Book," will cover bending, lifting and carrying in the garden. Landscape contractor and Foothill College horticulture instructor Frank Niccoli will talk about constructing a garden from the ground up on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 1:15 p.m. He will address the Garden Club of Los Altos, which meets at Christ Episcopal Church, 1040 Border Road, Los Altos. SHRED FOR FREE . . . Concerned about identity theft, but not ready to invest in a shredder? On Saturday, Jan. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can bring up to three boxes of sensitive documents for shredding to the Office Depot parking lot at the Ravenswood 101 Shopping Center, 1761 E. Bayshore Road, East Palo Alto.
