Palo Alto City Council . . . The council will elect a new mayor and vice mayor, swear in three new council members and pass resolutions thanking three outgoing council members. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 inside the City Council Chambers of City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.).

Palo Alto Unified School District . . . The Board of Education will continue its discussion on school capacities. Board members will also hear an annual report on the campuses' libraries. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 in the school district's board room (25 Churchill Ave.).
