TENNIS REPORT . . . On a Sunday afternoon in Boston in November, Stanford grad Paul Goldstein recorded his 26th career men's title on the USTA Pro Circuit, the minor leagues of professional tennis in the United States. Goldstein, who currently lives and works in San Francisco, became the all-time career leader for USTA tournament victories, and was presented with his own commemorative bobble head doll to recognize the achievement. "It means that I have won a lot of matches, a lot of titles and have been out here for a long time doing what I love," Goldstein said. It was a big year for Goldstein, who went over $1 million in career earnings during the summer and reached 64th in the world rankings, his highest ever. He finished the season ranked 68th, his first top 100 finish since 2000. He also reached the U.S. Open men's doubles semifinals with fellow Stanford grad Jim Thomas, earning his biggest paycheck ever at $50,000. Former Stanford standouts Michael Bryan and Bob Bryan won the U.S. Open doubles title . . . Former Menlo School star Dmitry Tunsunov reached the quarterfinals of the 2006 season-opening Qatar Open with a 7-6 (1), 6-2 victory over Younes El Ayanaoui on Wednesday. Tunsunov lost to seventh-seeded Gael Monfils, 6-2, 7-6, on Thursday in an event that also features world No. 1 Roger Federer . . . Stanford product and two-time NCAA singles champion Laura Granville lost in three sets to No. 6 seed Marion Bartoli in the second round of the ASB Women's Classic in Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday.
