TIDY UP THE ROSES . . . Peninsula Rose Society members will have three opportunities to learn about pruning roses -- Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Ave., Redwood City; Thursday, Jan. 12, at 7:30 p.m., Redwood City Library Community Room, 1044 Middlefield Road, Redwood City; and Saturday, Jan. 14, at 1 to 3 p.m., Roger Reynolds Nursery, 133 Encinal Ave., Menlo Park. A TOUCH OF CLASS . . . Palo Alto Adult School is offering a variety of classes on home improvement, gardening, cooking, consumer awareness and arts and crafts, beginning in early January. Among the classes are: Garden Design for Homeowners (Fran Adams), Jan. 10-March 14, 6:30 to 9 p.m. ($111); How to Manage Your Kitchen or Bath Remodel (Tim Hmelar), Jan. 11-Feb. 8, 6:30 to 9 p.m. ($75); Interior Decorating Workshop (Sharon Mylroie-Goldfein), Jan. 11-25, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. ($45 + $15 materials fee); Ceramics (Jeff Hale), Jan. 9-March 20, 7 to 9:30 p.m. ($112) or Jan. 12-March 23, 7 to 9:30 p.m. ($125); Floral Design with Ikebana (Thanh Kosen Nguyen), Jan. 10-Feb. 7, 1 to 4 p.m. ($65; $19 for age 55+); Gardening (Sherri Bohan), Jan. 11-March 22, 10 a.m. to noon ($19); Upholstering: Basic Techniques (Betty Britton, Marjorie DuBois, Ann Laveroni, Ann Rose), Jan. 10-March 21, or Jan. 12-March 23, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ($125). NOSTALGIA RULES . . . The Antique & Collectors Revival takes place Saturday, Jan. 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the San Mateo County Event Center (formerly San Mateo Expo Center), Fiesta Hall, 2495 S.
