"Into the Woods"
follows fairy-tale characters from the happy ending into the tenuous beyond at the Lucie Stern Theatre at 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, thanks to TheatreWorks. Indonesian textiles by the Iban of Borneo are on display at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University as part of an exhibit called "Flaming Red Cloth." The exhibit runs through March 26, and the museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays until 8 p.m. It's closed Dec. 24 and 25, but open Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Other exhibits at the museum include "Fired at Davis," a show of figurative ceramic sculpture by Robert Arneson, visiting professors and students at the University of California at Davis. "Face Value" displays a mix of contemporary portraits by young British artists at the Chelsea Art Gallery at 440 Kipling St. in Palo Alto. The holiday show at Gallery House at 320 California Ave. in Palo Alto includes paintings, batiks, cards, jewelry, collage and prints for sale. "ChopShticks"
brings Chinese food and Jewish comedy to Ming's Restaurant at 1700 Embarcadero Road in Palo Alto tonight and tomorrow. Three comedians, Kira Soltanovich, Ross Turner and Steve Mittleman, will put on a show. Cocktails are at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 and the show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person.
