Blues guitar extravaganza
Chase away those post-Thanksgiving blues at this fifth annual showcase of blues guitarists, featuring Northern California guitarists Rene Solis, Mighty Mike Schermer, Rich Kirch and vocalist Freddie Hughes. The raw, power-packed performance takes place on Friday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m., at Little Fox Theatre, 2209 Broadway, Redwood City. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door. Ying Quartet
Lauded for its elegance and innovation, siblings and classical musicians Ying Quartet team up with folk musician Mike Seeger for the West Coast premiere of "No Boundaries," a program that explores America's Appalachian roots and modern classical music. The Wednesday, Nov. 30 performance includes works by Barber, D'Rivera and the classic folk song "Amazing Grace." The concert starts at 8 p.m. at Dinkelspiel Auditorium, Stanford. "Santa Baby" is back
Smuin Ballet's Christmas Ballet, an all-time favorite, returns to the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts MainStage, 500 Castro St., Mountain View, on Wednesday, Nov. 30 through Sunday, Dec. 4. Six vignettes from Christmas ballet's past will be performed, along with favorites such as tap-dancing Christmas trees, jazz and swing numbers and the whimsical "Santa Baby." "The Nutcracker"
Pacific Theatre Ballet performs the holiday classic on Friday and Saturday Nov. 25 and 26 at 1 and 6 p.m. and Sunday Nov. 27 at 12:30 and 4 p.m. at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts MainStage, 500 Castro St., Mountain View. Tickets are $23 to $18.

When the Hunter Gathers
Digital prints by Mary Tsiongas explore hunting as a complex and marginalized activity. Tsiongas explores how our relationship to the natural world has changed with contemporary life.
