FUNDRAISER . . . Olympian Anne Cribbs will be the guest speaker when the Gunn High Sports Boosters hold their annual fundraising dinner on Sunday at the Fremont Hills Country Club at 5:30 p.m. Cribbs, who earned a gold medal in swimming at the 1960 Summer Games in Rome, is an advocate of women's sports and speak on her experiences at the Olympics. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward improving Gunn's athletic facilities. The school is hoping to build a new pool, a second gym, add lights and artificial turf to the football field, build a new soccer facility and enlarge the baseball field. Tickets are $100 for the first adult and $50 for additional adults, $20 for students. Checks should be sent to c/o Gunn Athletic Director Matt McGinn at 780 Arastradero Road, 94306. COURTING SUCCESS . . . Spectators at the USTA Challenger in Wexford, Pa. saw a double does of Cardinal in the championship tennis matches on Sunday. Stanford product and former NCAA singles champion Lilia Osterloh defeated Galina Voskoboeva, 7-6 (5), 6-4 for the singles title, while Stanford grad Teryn Ashley paired up with Carly Gullickson to beat Ashley Harkleroad and Bethanie Mattek, 6-1, 6-0, for the doubles title.
