"Aida," a musical of ancient Egypt, has its preview performance tonight at 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos, staged by the Bus Barn Stage Company. The show runs Thursday through Sunday, with one Wednesday performance on Sept. 21, through Oct. 1. "Intimate Apparel" tells the story of a lonely African-American seamstress in turn-of-the-century New York, courtesy of TheatreWorks. The play has performances from Tuesday through Sunday through Sept. 18 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts at 500 Castro St. Tickets range from $28 to $50, with $20 tickets for students and $30 tickets for seniors. "Lieder in Color" has Franz Schubert as its muse; painters Midori McCabe and Gloria Takla have created abstract scenes, landscapes and figures inspired by the great classical composer. The Fraggle Jazz Orchestra from Enschede in the Netherlands performs at 7:30 p.m. at the Cubberley multi-purpose room at 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, thanks to the Neighbors Abroad jazz club. "Una Nocha en Andalucia," in which singers and dancers celebrate the traditional style of flamenco puro, will fill Dinkelspiel Auditorium at Stanford University tonight starting at 8 p.m. The cast will "travel" among different cities in the Spanish province of Andalucia, all the while symbolizing the passage of one night.
