Vienna Teng and Deborah Levoy

Two singer-songwriters, Vienna Teng and Deborah Levoy, will perform in an Atherton garden on Saturday to do their part to aid the victims of domestic violence. The "Hope on Fire" concert, held at the 33 Emilie Ave. home of Atherton City Councilman Charles Marsala, will benefit the Support Network for Battered Women in Mountain View.

The name of the concert comes from the name of one of Teng's songs on her second CD, "Warm Strangers." Tickets to the concert, which runs from 5 to 8:30 p.m., range from $35 to $65 and can be purchased at the door (as available) or through www.hosv.org.

Brazilian Jazz Quintet

Led by John Neves, the Brazilian Jazz Quintet will provide a lively afternoon soundtrack at 2 p.m. at the Rengstorff House, 3070 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View.

Art

Maxine Solomon

Scenes from life in many lands fill the work of San Francisco artist Maxine Solomon, who has traveled as far afield as Zambia, Burkina Faso, China, Spain and Morocco.

Solomon's large oil paintings and mixed media drawings will be on display from Tuesday through Oct. 17 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. The exhibit is open from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and for one hour before performances in the center.

'Paint'

The creativity of seven painters is on display through Aug. 19 at Smith Andersen Editions, a fine arts press at 440 Pepper Ave. in Palo Alto.

'My Ticket to Hell'

Dealing with such wildly diverse topics as dragons, handcuffs and time travel, the original play "My Ticket to Hell" opens tonight at the Foothill College Playhouse Theater at 12345 El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills. Authors are Macky Alvarez, Kirk Pierron and Daniel Woo.

Film

'Who's Counting?'

Marilyn Waring, New Zealand parliament member, university professor and former goat farmer, is the focus of the film "Who's Counting?" that will be shown tonight at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 505 E. Charleston Road in Palo Alto.
