Urinetown
"Urinetown" will be presented this weekend by Wingspread 2005, the Palo Alto Children's Theatre Summer Stock Company. The musical features music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis. Performances will take place tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Dormouse Black Box Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Additional show times are July 8-9 at 7:30 p.m. and July 10 at 2:30 p.m. The company is comprised of high school and college students.

Stanford Art Spaces
Stanford Art Spaces presents paintings by Alice Louise Marston, mixed media by Kim Thoman, paintings and sculpture by Kathleen Otley and Gunn High School student artwork through Aug. 18.

ArtsIndia West
ArtsIndia West presents a solo show of paintings by Bengal School artist Ramananda Bandopadhyay. The exhibition features recent works included in the recently published book, "Ganesh: Power and Passion" by Kishore Chatterjee. Bandopadhyay's paintings depict the Hindu deity Ganesh, a popular subject matter for Indian artists. The exhibition will run through July 17.

Jovino Santos Neto Quarteto
Jovino Santos Neto Quarteto will perform on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Campbell Recital Hall. Pianist Neto melds classical, jazz and indigenous Brazilian music. The concert is part of the 2005 Stanford Jazz Festival.

Calligraphy at Bell Books
Bell Books will offer a free hands-on demonstration of calligraphy tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. The instructor will be Inja of Inja Ink Calligraphy. Kang Hong Seok
A month-long exhibition of works by Korean artist Kang Hong Seok will open tonight at Palo Alto City Hall, 250 Hamilton Ave. The show, entitled "Strange But All Ours," consists of a variety of materials and images from Korea, but with an artistic sensibility that reflects the cutting age of international contemporary art. The exhibition marks Seok's American debut.

Celebrating Independence Day
Carillonneur Jim Welch will perform from Stanford's Hoover Tower chimes on Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will feature patriotic music and American folk songs, in honor of Independence Day. It will precede the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy concert at Frost Amphitheatre. People will get to hear the bells as they stroll across campus or are waiting for the concert to begin in Frost.
