FIELD TRIPS . . . The Gardening with Natives group of the California Native Plant Society, Santa Clara Valley Chapter, will visit two gardens this summer. On Thursday, July 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., they will visit the Cantor Museum Native Garden at Stanford University; on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., they will visit the garden of landscape designer Agi Kehoe in Sunnyvale. TIDY UP IN SUMMER . . . San Mateo County residents can drop off their household hazardous waste materials at the San Mateo Expo Center, 2495 Delaware St., San Mateo, east parking lot, on Saturday, July 9, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. FREE GARDENING CLASS . . . Pamela Chesavage, manager of the Almost Eden Garden Project, is offering a free gardening class on Saturday, July 9, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Her focus will be on attracting beneficial bugs to the garden and dealing organically with the bad ones. HOW MUCH WATER? . . . City of Palo Alto Utilities is offering a free workshop entitled "How Much Water Does Your Garden Need?" on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. The workshop, which focuses on reducing water reliance by introducing native plants, grouping plants and using drip irrigation, takes place at the Lucie Stern Community Center, 1351 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
