A CALL TO ARTISTS. . . Committee for Green Foothills, a local environmental nonprofit, announces a call to artists for "Nature's Inspirations: Celebrating the Arts," a juried exhibition to be held Oct. 2 at Strawberry Ranch in Half Moon Bay.
The competition is open to all Bay Area artists. Only photographs and original landscape paintings can be submitted (oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media or pastel; on paper or canvas), with an emphasis on the San Mateo County coast. Entry fee is $15. The application deadline is July 13.
The Jane Gallagher Award and a $250 cash prize will be awarded to an artist whose work honors the places, people and organizations that inspire the protection of open space. Selected finalists will participate in the Oct. 2 exhibition.

LOIS WAGNER RETIRES FROM STANFORD LIVELY ARTS. . . Lois Wagner, executive director of Stanford Lively Arts, will retire on Aug. 31 after 21 years with Stanford University. Wagner is also assistant vice president of the university. She and her husband Alan plan to relocate to Tucson, Ariz.
