Restraining order against neighborhood leader OK'd

A temporary restraining order requested by Palo Alto developer Mark Migdal against Barron Park Association President Doug Moran was approved by a Santa Clara County judge and served last Thursday.

Migdal alleges that Moran threatened his life, and the order prohibits Moran from harassing or contacting Migdal. A Superior Court hearing will be held May 6, at which time it will be determined whether to make the restraining order permanent. If so, Moran could be required to keep a certain distance from Migdal, according to Migdal's attorney.

The developer had requested the order also protect his tenants, who had the conversation with Moran in which the neighborhood leader allegedly threatened Migdal's life. But the judge put off that decision to the May 6 hearing, the attorney said.

Migdal and Moran have disagreed for years on developer's plans for three parcels of land on Matadero Avenue in Barron Park, across the road from Moran's residence.

Moran denies he ever threatened Migdal's life.
