LOOKS GOOD, SELLS WELL . . . Palo Alto Weekly columnist Kit Davey, A.S.I.D., who specializes in decorating using what you've already got, will teach a workshop called "Stage Your Home for Sale to Maximize Your Profits" on Wednesday, March 30, 7 to 9 p.m., at Foothill College, 12345 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. Topics range from what buyers are looking for to how to increase curb appeal and make minor improvements with big payback. Cost is $35, plus a $5 materials fee to the instructor (and $2 in quarters for parking that night). Call (408) 864-8817 for the classroom number and location.
NEED HELP WITH TASKS? . . . Local Realtors, affiliates and friends are revving up for this year's Realtor Service Volunteer Program (RSVP), where they'll devote a day to helping homeowners in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties make small repairs that pose a real challenge to the elderly or disabled. They'll tackle replacing smoke-detector batteries, flipping mattresses, washing windows, installing house numbers, planting spring flowers and much more during the week of May 16-21. Deadline for seniors to apply is Friday, April 15. For information, call the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (SILVAR) at (650) 949-9115. Last year 450 volunteers offered free help to 274 homeowners.
GREAT GLASS . . . Public preview for the Bay Area Glass Institute's third annual Great Glass Farmers' Market will be tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at BAGI, 401 E. Taylor St., San Jose. A percentage of sales of glass veggies, fruit and flowers benefits BAGI, as well as the Triton Museum's ArtReach in the hospitals and exhibition development. The actual show will be on Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Triton Museum of Art, 1505 Warburton Ave., Santa Clara.
ENOUGH ALREADY . . . St. Jude's has been inundated with people responding to its plea for card fronts for its Born Again Card Recycling Program. On its Web site, http://stjudesranch.org/Content/cardprogram.asp, they are asking that people send no more. Instead, of course, they'd like you to buy the recycled cards (available in packets of 10 for $8). Check out the Web site for further information or call (800) 492-3562
