Katy Boggs' hand-painted photography can be seen at Modernbook Gallery in Palo Alto. Boggs is one of 20 photographers whose works are on display.
Thursday

"Vincent in Brixton"
will run through April 3 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Written by Nicholas Wright, the play follows a young Vincent Van Gogh , as he arrives in London in 1873 as an art dealer in training. The play will be presented by TheatreWorks. Show times are Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. (additional 2 p.m. performances March 26 only), Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. (2 p.m. only April 3). Tickets are $20-$50. "Picasso at the Lapin Agile"will run through April 16 at 8 p.m. at the Bus Barn Theatre, 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos. Written by Steve Martin, the play imagines Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein meeting in a Paris bar circa 1904. Performances will take place Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday, April 3 at 3 p.m. and April 10 at 7 p.m. The play will run through April 16. Tickets are $18-$28. "On the Edge: Contemporary Chinese Artists Encounter the West" will run through May 1 at Stanford's Cantor Arts Center. The exhibition explores the artists' position in the art world and China's position in the world. The Cantor Arts Center is located off Palm Drive, at Lomita Drive and Museum Way. It is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday until 8 p.m. Admission is free. Docents will give free tours of the exhibition on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Wallace Stegner: Throwing a Long Shadow" will run through June 12 at the Los Altos History Museum. The retrospective covers the life and influence of Stegner, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, teacher, environmentalist and Peninsula treasure. Regular viewing hours are Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free. The museum is located at 51 South San Antonio Road in Los Altos. Stanford Art Spaces presents construction/paintings and mixed-media collage by Gerald Huth, photographic art by Dennis Kohn and ethnographic photography by Dennis Lau through April 14. The Center for Integrated Systems Art Spaces is located on the Stanford University campus. Admission is free. Pear Slices II
will open tonight at the Pear Avenue Theatre, 1220 Pear Ave. Unit K in Mountain View. This production will feature new plays by local playwrights of the Pear Playwrights Guild. Tickets are $10-$20. Art works by St. Elizabeth Seton students
will be on display through April 24 at the Palo Alto Main Library (1213 Newell Road) and Children's Library (1276 Harriet St.). The Main Library will showcase 4th-8th grade art inspired by Georgia O'Keefe, Andy Warhol and Wayne Thiebaud. The Children's Library will spotlight K-3rd grade students, who were inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Paul Cezanne. The exhibit is presented by Art in Action, which provides school programs, after-school enrichment programs and summer ARTcamp opportunities for students in San Mateo, Santa Clara and San Francisco counties.
