Weekly's Holiday Fund enters January home stretch

The Weekly's annual Holiday Fund drive is approached the quarter-million-dollar mark as of Thursday on its way to its $300,000 annual goal. The fund currently has $229,635 from 579 donors and several community-based foundations, which provide matching funds.

The fund drive continues through January, with grants awarded in April to community organizations that provide services to children and families.

This year's foundation contributions have come from the Packard Foundation ($32,000), Hewlett Foundation ($25,000), Arrillaga Foundation ($10,000) and the Peery Foundation ($10,000) -- all prior supporters of the Holiday Fund. In addition, an anonymous donor provided $15,000 in matching funds.
