The Stanford Theatre is running a Marlon Brando Film Festival. The theatre is located at 221 University Ave. in Palo Alto. Screenings are for Friday through Sunday only. The theatre is closed on Monday and Tuesday. For more information call (650) 324-3700.
"Julius Caesar" (1953) The film industry was shocked at the choice of Marlon Brando for the part of Marc Antony. Brando was shocked himself, turning to co-star John Gielgud for help in what turned out to be one of his most highly praised performances. Fri. - Sun. at 7:30 p.m.; Sat. & Sun. also at 3:20 p.m.
"Desiree" (1954) Having completed his first six films, three of which contained truly great performances ("Streetcar," "On the Waterfront" and "Julius Caesar"), Marlon Brando signed for this routine historical romance portraying Napoleon. Also starring Jean Simmons. Fri. - Sun. at 5:30 & 9:40 p.m.
