BE PREPARED . . . The City of Palo Alto recently included advice from the Office of Emergency Services about how to prepare for a major storm. Key pieces were: 1) Keep insurance policies and important documents in a safe-deposit box; 2) Discuss emergency plans with your family; 3) Store supplies -- first-aid kit, foods for special diets, dried or canned foods, can opener, cash, portable radio with extra batteries and drinking water -- at work, home or in the car; 4) Keep leaves out of streets, gutters and catch basins. For more information on storm preparation, or on joining Palo Alto's Community Emergency Response Team training, call (650) 617-3197.
