The Stanford Theatre is running a Marlon Brando Film Festival. The theatre is located at 221 University Ave. in Palo Alto. Screenings are for Friday through Sunday only. The theatre is closed on Monday and Tuesday. For more information call (650) 324-3700.

"Sayonara" (1957) Gorgeous color cinematography enhances the story of an army major (Marlon Brando) stationed in Japan who falls in love with a Japanese dancer at a time when the military's policy discouraged interracial marriage. The film was shot on location in Kyoto. Fri. - Sun. at 7:30 p.m.; Sat. & Sun. also at 2:50 p.m.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" (1958) Tennessee Williams' dramatic story of domestic conflict was one of MGM's biggest hits. Elizabeth Taylor changed her image from kitten to cat, and critics praised her performance as one of the best of her career. Also starring Paul Newman. Fri. - Sun. at 5:30 & 10:10 p.m.
