THEATER

The Odd Couple
"The Odd Couple" will be presented through Nov. 20 at Gunn High School, 780 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto. Gunn Theatre will present both the original male and female versions of Neil Simon's classic tale of domestic culture shock. The female version be presented Nov. 13 and 19 at 8 p.m.; Nov. 17 at 3:30 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. The male version be presented Nov. 12, 18 and 20 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 adults; $10 students; regular evening performances are $8; matinees cost $4. MUSIC

Nova Vista Symphony
The Nova Vista Symphony will perform an all-French concert on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Foothill College's Smithwick Theatre, 12345 El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills.

Entitled "La Vie Parisienne," the program will include Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin" and "Mother Goose Suite," Gounod's "Petite Symphonie for Winds," Sarasate's "Introduction and Tarantella" and Saint-Saens' "Rondo Capriccioso," featuring soloist Nuvi Mehta conducting from the violin.

Tickets are $15 adults; $12 seniors, $8 students and will be available at the door. Admission will be free for children under 12. For additional information please e-mail NovaVista@juno.com.

MUSIC

Gifts From the Harp
"Gifts From the Harp" will take place on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 670 E. Meadow in Palo Alto. The performers will include the Harpers Hall Ensemble, harpist Kevin Holsinger, harpist/vocalist Jane Valencia and harpist/vocalist Lynne Reardon and the Lumina Trio.

A suggested donation is $12 general admission; $10 for ages 12 and under. All proceeds will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank and the Harpers Hall Scholarship Fund. For reservations and ticket information please contact Harpers Hall at (408) 374-1042.

Seussical the Musical
Peninsula Youth Theatre will present "Seussical the Musical" on Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Written by the Tony Award-winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty 9"Ragtime'), the musical is based on the stories of the man who revolutionized reading primers for baby boomers. The play marks the centennial of Dr. Seuss' birth.

Additional show times are 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 20; 9:30 a.m. Nov. 18; 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 and 2 p.m. Nov. 21. Tickets are $17 for adults; $14 for kids 12 and under and seniors 62 and over, except for the 9:30 a.m. weekdays matinees, when all tickets cost $7. Music in the Schools benefit
Violinist Claudia Bloom and pianist Nora Ayzman will perform a benefit concert on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road (corner of Embarcadero Road). The program will feature works by Schnitkke, Brahms and Shostakovich.

Tickets are $15 adults; $10 students and seniors; $5 children and will be available at the door. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit Music in the School Foundation, which provides classroom music instruction for children in East Palo Alto schools. For more information please call (650) 327-2019.

Fortnightly Music Club
The Fortnightly Music Club will present a concert on Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road. Pegora the Witch
"Pegora the Witch" will open tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Children's Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Written by Carol Lynn Wright, the story revolves around Pegora, an apprentice witch who has a flaw in her nature -- she cannot help doing good.

Additional show times are Saturday at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m.; Thursday at 4:30 p.m.; Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 adults; $3 children and are available through the Children's Theatre box office, which is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1:30 to 6 p.m. For more information please call (650) 463-4970.

Peninsula Open Studios
