"Kiss Me Kate" will be presented by the Woodside Community Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Woodside School's Sellman Auditorium, 3195 Woodside Road in Woodside. "Picnic" will preview tonight at 8 p.m. at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Presented by the Palo Alto Players, the show will officially open on Saturday at 8 p.m. Written by William Inge, the play profiles a handsome drifter who wanders into the lives of six seemingly ordinary women. Show times are 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. "The Children's Hour" will be presented tonight at 8 p.m. at Foothill College's Playhouse Theatre (Room 1301). Nature Gallery will celebrate its 10th anniversary this weekend. The celebration will commence tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. with the "Rock Paintings" of Los Altos artist Francine Markoe. The Palo Alto Philharmonic will present its first chamber music concert of the 2004-05 season tonight at 8 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center Auditorium, 1313 Newell Road in Palo Alto. The Palo Alto Chamber Ensemble will perform "Piano Quartet No. 3" by Johannes Brahms. In addition, members of the Palo Alto Philharmonic will play an "Interlude for Harp and Viola" by Ken Gist, and "Quintet No. 3" for brass quintet by Victor Ewald. The concert will also include German Beer Garden Music from 1931, performed by The Hungry Five Ensemble. Tickets are $14 general, $12 seniors, $7 students at the door the evening of the performance. English Concert, a Baroque period instrument ensemble, will perform today at 2:30 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium. The program will include two Vivaldi violin concertos featuring director/violinist Andrew Manze, as well as selections by Mozart, Biber, Schmelzer and Locatelli. The concert will be presented by Stanford Lively Arts. There will be a free discussion following the performance.
