THURSDAY

Tapestry will perform tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Community School of Music and Arts at Finn Center, Tateuchi Hall, 230 San Antonio Circle in Mountain View. Admission is free. Limited seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This event is part of the Informances series, a partnership between Stanford Lively Arts and CSMA. "Living Out" will be presented through Oct. 31 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Written by Lisa Loomer, the play chronicles a Latin-American immigrant mother who signs on as a nanny for a power lawyer. Show times are Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. (8 p.m. only Oct. 30); Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. (2 p.m. only Oct. 31). "Visual Voice" audio-described performances will be available Oct. 29-30 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20-$50; savings available for youth, students, seniors, and members. FRIDAY

"Au Cabaret D'Aristide" will take place tonight from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Cubberley Center Auditorium, 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. The special event will feature a gourmet dinner from Southern France prepared by Albi chefs, a dance performance and French cancan, inspired by the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Sponsored by Neighbors Abroad, the event commemorates the 10th anniversary of sisterhood between the cities of Palo Alto and Albi, France. Tickets are $60 per person. Tapestry, a Boston-based ensemble of women's voices, will perform tonight at 8 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Church. The program, entitled "Sapphire Night," will juxtapose works by medieval Christian mystic and abbess Hildegard von Bingen with those of the award-winning contemporary composer Patricia Van Ness. The concert will be presented by Stanford Lively Arts. Tickets are $38. Half-price tickets are available for people aged 15 and under, and discounts are available for students. Paintings by Linda Montalto and paintings and prints by Andrea Fono and Sarah Ratchye will be on display through Dec. 2 at the Center for Integrated Systems Art Spaces, located on the Stanford campus. "Pacific Prints" will be on display through Nov. 30 at the Pacific Art League, 668 Ramona St. in Palo Alto. SATURDAY

James Welch will present his 12th Annual Halloween Concert tonight at 8 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 600 Colorado Ave. in Palo Alto. This year's program, entitled "Gothic Gargoyles," will feature entertaining music written for the large Gothic European cathedrals, notably Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris. A chamber-music concert will take place tonight at 8 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road in Palo Alto. . Performers are violinist Susan Brown; cellist Karen Andrie; mezzo-soprano Wendy Hillhouse and pianist Josephine Gandolfi. The program will include songs for voice and piano by Schubert and Joaquin Nin-Culmell. Brown, Andrie and Gandolfi will also perform trios by Buxtehude, Beethoven, Turina, and Germaine Tailleferre. "Question" will be on display through Jan. 2 at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University. This experimental project is designed to provoke and address questions frequently asked by visitors about art and its presentation in museums.
