Thursday

The 3rd annual Daniel Pearl Music Day
will take place tonight at 8 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Church. The concert will honor the late Pearl, who was a Stanford alumnus and Wall Street Journal reporter killed in Pakistan. Performers will include the St. Lawrence String Quartet; pianists Mark Applebaum and George Barth; organist Robert Huw Morgan; violinist Barry Shiffman; mezzo-soprano Jennifer Lane; vocalist Roopa Meena Mahadevan; soprano Adrian Coburn. Works by Jonathan Berger, Tom Johnson, Judith Weir, Ernest Bloch and Adrian Coburn will be performed. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The 9th Annual Great Glass Pumpkin Patch will be on display today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road (corner of Embarcadero Road). A sale of the works will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information please call (650) 329-2366.

"Figurative Abstraction and Poetic Light: Painter's Lessons From Corot to Morandi," a slide lecture by painter Mitchell Johnson, will take place tonight from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Art Center, under its program, "Surviving and Thriving as an Artist." Admission is free. "Living Out" will be presented through Oct. 31 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Written by Lisa Loomer, the play chronicles a Latin-American immigrant mother who signs on as a nanny for a power lawyer. Show times are Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. (8 p.m. only Oct. 30); Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. (2 p.m. only Oct. 24 and 31). "Visual Voice" audio-described performances will be available Oct. 29-30 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20-$50; savings available for youth, students, seniors, and members. Grupo Corpo,
will present Brazilian dance-theater perform tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium. The performance is a presentation of Stanford Lively Arts. A moderated post-performance discussion will take place tonight and will be free and open to the public. Tickets are $44/$38/$26. The Friends of Palo Alto Children's Theatre
