FEED YOU AND THE LAND . . . David Basile will teach a pair of classes tomorrow at Common Ground about crops. "Feed the Earth with Compost Crops," which deals with growing your own fertilizer, is from 10:30 to noon. The class will cover how to use unusual objects to decorate, give curb appeal, make mosaic orbs and stepping stones, and create scenes you see from inside your home. Fee is $45. Landscape designer Julia Powers will offer a class on "Easy Plants for Peninsula Gardens" tomorrow from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gamble Garden Center Carriage House, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. The class, which includes a slide show and a walk through Gamble Garden and the surrounding neighborhood, is designed for gardening novices, and will deal with plants that don't need masses of care to survive.
