INTRO TO FENG SHUI . . . Linda Lenore will teach her one-evening course on Feng Shui on Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Palo Alto High School, 50 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto, Room 310. INTO QUILTING OR SEWING? . . . The Sew, Quilt & Embroidery Festival is slated for Sept. 24-26 at the San Mateo County Expo Center. Hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and seniors; children 13 and under are free; parking is $7/car. GIVING IT AWAY . . . The City of Palo Alto is holding a Compost Giveaway Day on Saturday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own shovels and containers to heft it home, plus proof of Palo Alto residency. There's also a Compost Workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m. that day where you can learn how to make your own compost. Participants earn a voucher for a reduced-cost composting bin. Call the Recycling Program at (650) 496-5910 to enroll.
