GARDEN PARTY . . . The Environmental Horticulture Department at Foothill College is sponsoring a Garden Party benefit today from 5 to 7 p.m. at a home in Los Altos Hills. The money raised will supplement Measure E bond funds, and will be used to cover equipment, supplies and outdoor learning labs. GET TO KNOW YOUR TREES . . . Canopy: Trees for Palo Alto is holding a Tree Walk in the Community Center neighborhood on Sunday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. Dave Muffly, a certified arborist, will point out the common and the rare trees in the area. HEADS UP FOR CLASSES . . . The newly released City of Palo Alto Department of Community Services' Enjoy! catalog is chock full of opportunities to learn skills to improve your home. For starters: Ceramics is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 7-10 p.m., or Saturdays and Thursdays 10 a.m.-1 p.m. beginning in mid-September. Fee for the 10-week class is $191 for residents, $220 for non-residents. There's also a weekend Mosaic Workshop, taught by Colette Crutcher, Oct. 17, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Oct. 24, noon-3 p.m., where you'll go home with a finished garden stepping stone.
