Hoover Elementary gets interim principal

Susanne Scott has been appointed as Hoover Elementary School's interim principal for the upcoming school year. The district began searching for a replacement in June when Principal Don Cox requested a one-year leave to attend culinary school. Superintendent Mary Frances Callan said Scott is "talented and dedicated to students." After teaching for 12 years in Pennsylvania, Scott joined the district as a teacher at Palo Verde Elementary School in 1992. Since then, she's been involved in staff development, served as co-chair of the writing task force and training team and was a teacher on special assignment for literacy. Scott also took charge of Palo Verde when the principal was absent. The district plans to hire a permanent principal for Hoover by fall 2005. --Alexandria Rocha
