PLANTS SICK? . . . A free master gardener plant clinic will be held tomorrow from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gamble Garden Center, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. Bring samples of sick plants, or questions about local gardening, and the master gardener on call will dole out advice.
PLEASURE AND PAIN . . . Does it hurt when you reach down to pull a weed? Guest speaker Wanda Woo of Mills Peninsula Health Service will address the Garden Club of Los Altos about "Gardening When you Hurt" on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 1:30 p.m. Woo, an occupational therapist in the arthritis center, will talk about safer gardening techniques, proper positioning and ways to alleviate pain. The group meets at the Christ Episcopal Church, 1040 Border Road, Los Altos. Visitors are welcome, but pay a $5 fee. For information, call (650) 365-4677.
NEED SOME HELP? . . . Applications for Rebuilding Together Peninsula's free repairs and renovations are due Oct. 15, 2004. To quality, you must own your home and live in it, be low-income and be able to work along with your friends, family and volunteers on National Rebuilding Day on April 30, 2005. Free help from RTP ranges from painting to major and minor repairs and clean up. Most of the work is performed in one day.
