ENTREPRENEUR HONORS . . . An East Palo Alto teen and a local teacher are being recognized for their entrepreneurial talents by the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Jahvita Rastafari, 16, was one of two California students to win "Youth Entrepreneur of the Year." Her business, Tru2it Entertainment, is a record label that enables urban youth to explore their musical talent in a safe and positive environment. Rastafari is a junior at Menlo-Atherton High School. Menlo-Atherton and East Palo Alto high schools teacher Bret Sweet won the "Certified Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year" award. He is also an entrepreneurship teacher with BUILD, a Menlo Park nonprofit organization that teaches low-income youth how to start their own businesses. This week, Rastafari and Sweet will receive their awards, which include cash prizes, at a dinner in New York City.
MIXER TONIGHT . . . The Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a business mixer, Wednesday, April 28 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at the Museum of American Heritage, 351 Homer Ave. Catering will be by Straits Café. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. No registration required. All are welcome.
GOING FOR BROKER . . . CRESA Partners, a corporate real-estate advisory firm, has added Nate Curry to its Palo Alto staff as associate broker. Prior to CRESA Partners, Currie worked for the Portland Trail Blazers as an account sales manager. He's a graduate of Willamette University in Oregon and a volunteer for the SMART reading program. NEW EXEC . . . Kevin Floyd has joined Bank of America as a mortgage account executive for the San Francisco peninsula, where he is responsible for building Realtor relationships and managing mortgages. Floyd comes to Bank of America after owning his own company for nine years. He has provided real-estate financial services for more than a dozen years in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Los Altos. Floyd volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and his daughter's school.
