TENNIS TICKETS AVAILABLE . . . Individual tickets for the Bank of the West Classic went on sale on Monday. The Classic, a WTA Tour Tier II event, will be held July 12-18 at the Taube Tennis Stadium on Stanford's campus. Venus Williams, Kim Clijsters and Lindsay Davenport have all committed early to compete at Stanford. The trio represent the past six championships in event, with Clijsters the defending champion. She also won in 2001, while Williams won the title in 2000 and 2002 and Davenport won in 1998 and 1999. Williams, who missed last year's tournament with a strained abdominal muscle, won the Family Circle Cup title on Sunday in Charleston, South Carolina. It was her first tournament win since February of 2003. "We are excited to be able to announce that Kim, Venus and Lindsay are coming back this year," said Tournament Director Gus Sampras. "We are expecting a great week of tennis." Tickets are priced between $10-$80 per session and are available through City Box Office at 1-415-392-4400 or through Tickets.com at (650) 478-2277. Day sessions Monday through Thursday begin at 10 a.m. and Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. Evening sessions begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday's final is scheduled for 1 p.m.

OAKS TAKE TWO. . . The Menlo College baseball team defeated defending Division III national champions Chapman University in games on Friday, 9-4, and Saturday, 3-2, before dropping the series finale, 7-2, on Sunday. Garrett Rodgers drove in two runs in Friday's win as Kyle Cantrell pitched five solid innings to earn his first victory of the season. Cantrell allowed one earned run on four hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Ben Hicks recorded the final out for the save. Sean Scott, Jimmy Goethals and Billy Himan each had two hits. Matt McGrew hit a two-run homer and Scott also drove in a run in the fourth inning on Saturday as Jason Bynum and two relievers held off the Panthers. Bynum did not allow an earned run on five hits in 7 1/3 innings. Scott, who started the game in right field, threw the final 1 2/3 innings for his second save. Anthony Prestigiacom added two hits. Goethals hit two home runs to account for Menlo's offense in Sunday's loss. The Oaks (13-17-1) compete in the Bay Area Invitational in Hayward this weekend, meeting Linfield College on Friday at 11 a.m. Menlo plays Chapman again on Saturday, and hose Cal State Hayward on Sunday.

OLYMPIC QUALIFIER . . . Former Stanford swim standout Barbara (Metz) Lindquist won the U.S. Olympic triathlon trials Sunday in Honolulu, Hawaii, securing the first of three spots on the U.S. Olympic women's team. Lindquist, who now lives in Jackson, Wyo., is the world's top-ranked female triathlete. She completed the 1,500-meter swim, 24.8-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run in 2 hours, 7 minutes and 21 seconds. The remaining two spots on the U.S. teams will be decided after the World Championships in Portugal next month and a June triathlon in Bellingham, Wash.
