New works by Michal Venera will be on display through March at Torrefazione Italia Café in Palo Alto.

A lecture by Enrique Chagoya will take place on Thursday at the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View.
Thursday

Enrique Chagoya
will lecture tonight at 7 p.m. at the Community School of Music and Arts, 230 San Antonio Circle in Mountain View (between California & Central Expressway). The lecture will complement an exhibit of Chagoya's works, which will be on display through April 8 (Monday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.) in CSMA's art gallery. Chagoya, an assistant professor of art at Stanford University, makes paintings and prints about the changing nature of culture. Tickets for tonight's lecture, which includes a wine/cheese reception immediately afterward, are $10 (general admission) and $5 (seniors/students). Tickets will be available at the door. "All My Sons" will run through March 28 at the Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Written by Arthur Miller, the play focuses on an airplane parts manufacturer whose wartime profiteering may have compromised his own son, a pilot missing in action. "Show times are Tuesdays (March 9 and 16) at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 8 p.m.; additional 2 p.m. performances on March 13 and 20; Sundays at 2 p.m.; additional 7 p.m. performance on March 14. "Candide" will be presented by Foothill Music Theatre through March 14 at Foothill College's Playhouse, 12345 El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills. The play, featuring a score by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, follows the globe-trotting adventures of a displaced lad separated from his one true love. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 13 at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 general; $20 seniors; $16 students; $10 children under 12. The Sydney Dance Company
will perform "Ellipse" tonight and Saturday at 8 p.m. at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium. The concert will be presented by Stanford Lively Arts. A free post-performance discussion will take place tonight at approximately 9:15 p.m. The discussion is free and open to the public. Tickets are $42/$38/$30. The New Century Chamber Orchestra will perform tonight at 8 p.m. at St Mark's Episcopal Church, 600 Colorado Avenue in Palo Alto. The program will feature Bela Bartok's "Divertimento for Strings,' Felix Mendelssohn's "String Symphony No. 8" and William Walton's "String Sonata." Single ticket prices are $39 and $28. "Once Upon A Mattress"

"Picasso to Thiebaud:Modern Contemporary Art from the Collections of Stanford University Alumni and Friends" will be on display through June 20 at the Iris & B. The exhibition will feature more than 70 prints, drawings and photographs from the early 17th century to the present, featuring artists as subjects.
