PROPAGATION BASICS . . . Master gardener Jim Kern, who is also a horticultural consultant, landscape contractor and Foothill College instructor, will teach a class on Plant Propagation 101 on Saturday, Feb. 28, 9 to 11 a.m. The class for beginners, which covers starting plants with seeds, rooting simple cuttings, dividing large plants and soil preparation, will be held at the Elizabeth Gamble Garden Carriage House, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. VISITORS COMING? . . . Filoli, the National Trust for Historic Preservation property in Woodside, is now open through Oct. 30, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with last admission at 2:30 p.m. Filoli is closed on Sunday and Monday and all federal holidays. Admission, which includes self-guided tours, guided tours and nature hikes, is $10 for adults, $5 for students, $1 for children ages 7-12, free for children under 7.
