"Skies," by computer artist Jeehee Lee, will be on display at Stanford Art Spaces as of Friday.

Thursday
"Memphis" will be presented by TheatreWorks through Feb. 15 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. Written by playwright Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi composer-keyboardist David Bryan, the play chronicles the birth of rock 'n' roll while profiling a deejay who played the music of black and white America together for the first time. Show times are Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m., (8 p.m. only Feb. 14); Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. on Jan. 25 and Feb. 1; 2 p.m. only on Feb. 8 and 15. "Visual Voice" audio-described performances will be available Feb. 13-14 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20-$48; discounts are available for youth, students, seniors and members. "The Winter's Tale" will be presented through Feb. 14 at the Bus Barn Theatre, 97 Hillview Ave. in Los Altos. One of Shakespeare's last works, the play is a profound explanation of the simple miracles in life and the forces that shape them -- love, friendship, jealousy and forgiveness. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, 3 p.m. on Feb. 1 and Feb. 8. A discussion will take place on Jan. 30. Tickets are $25 for Thursdays through Saturdays; $20 for Sundays. Peninsula Teen Opera will present two evenings of opera and operetta, tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Spangenberg Theatre (Gunn High School), 780 Arastradero Road in Palo Alto. The programs will feature a condensed version of "The Bartered Bride" and a comic opera by the Czech composer Bedrich Smetana. The group will also perform scenes from "The Marriage of Figaro," "The Magic Flute," "Hansel and Gretel," "Mikado," "A Little Night Music" and "La Boheme." Film Weekend 2004, a 3-day conference for anyone who aspires to break in to the film and television industry, will be presented by The Learning Annex and Hollywood by the Bay, Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at Hyatt Rickeys in Palo Alto.
