OAKS CORNER . . . The Menlo College men's basketball team suffered a setback to host Humboldt State, 96-52, on Friday. Mike Watters led the Oaks (1-7) with 15 points, five assists and four rebounds. Menlo is back in action on Thursday with a home game against Cal State Monterey Bay at 8 p.m. . . . The Menlo College women's basketball team hosts Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday at 6 p.m. The Lady Oaks (4-5) are coming off two victories in the Dominican Tournament, recording a 53-42 decision over Worcester, and beating Bethel, 60-51. Junior Maria Gomez, who scored 18 points against Bethel, set a school record for career assists with 154 . . . The Menlo College women's wrestling team will be in action this weekend with dual meets against Missouri Valley at 7 p.m. and Pacific University at 8 p.m. on Friday at Kennedy Middle School in Redwood City. The Lady Oaks Wrestling Invitational on Saturday will be held at the Menlo Gym beginning at 9 a.m. . . . The Menlo College men's wrestling team travels to Dickinson State for a meet on Friday at 9 a.m.
LOCAL SOCCER NEWS . . . The Palo Alto CYSA Soccer Club will be conducting for the upcoming season for boys and girls between the ages of 10-14 at the Cubberley fields. The Under-10 and Under-12 boys and girls teams will conduct tryouts on Saturday, Jan. 24, Sunday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 7. The Under-13 and Under-14 boys and girls teams will hold tryouts on Sunday, Jan. 25, Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 8. For more information, visit the website at www.pasoccerclub.org . . .
